Core Mission and Expertise
The Cardiac Anesthesiology Department started its work in conjunction with the Surgery Department. Cardiac anesthesiologists at Shaheed Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center specialize in the care of adult and pediatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery and other interventional procedures on the heart.

Scope of Services
The anesthesiologists have experience in caring for patients undergoing all types of cardiac surgeries, such as CABG, valve repair or replacement, and palliative or total correction operations for congenital heart diseases.
Anesthesia and sedation care for cardiovascular interventions, electrophysiology, and echocardiography procedures for both adults and pediatric patients are provided by this team. The anesthesiologists are responsible for pre-operative workup, intraoperative anesthetic management, and post-operative recovery.

Coverage for 210 ICU and CCU beds
Respiratory unit with more than 150 ventilator sets
Educational Programs
The department provides educational programs for anesthesia residents and cardiac anesthesia fellows. Attending professors also contribute to educational programs for Master of Science students in ICU care and extracorporeal technology.
