The Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center, as one of the country’s first research centers, began its activities in 1992 under the presidency of Dr. Noohi. This center, operating as an independent research center, was approved at the 52nd meeting of the Council for Development of Medical Sciences on 1992/05/17. The research activities of this center cover the specialized and subspecialized fields of heart failure and transplantation, cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric cardiology, cardiothoracic anesthesia, cardiovascular imaging, and nuclear medicine. The center was founded with the presence of five founding members:

1. Feridoun Noohi, MD.

2. Majid Maleki, MD.

3. Seyed Mohammadmehdi Peighambari, MD.  

4. Seyed Saied Hosseini, MD.

5. Seyed Mahmoud Meraji, MD.  

 In light of the growing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors in the country, the Shahid Rajaee Heart and Vascular Research Center, as one of the country’s pioneering research centers, aims to prevent and control cardiovascular diseases at the community level. It engages in producing and disseminating scientific information through research in related areas. By conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of cardiovascular diseases and utilizing advanced and efficient technologies, the center advances in expanding the boundaries of specialized knowledge in related domains to protect and promote the health of the community.

• Development of research related to improving cardiovascular health in the community
• Conducting applied and developmental research and presenting practical models related to cardiovascular diseases to promote health and achieve sustainable development in the region
• Identifying and analyzing community needs and formulating interventions to improve health and evaluate implemented interventions
• Carrying out basic, clinical, and epidemiological research related to the control and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors
• Expanding and disseminating knowledge related to cardiovascular diseases by increasing the quantity and quality of articles in reputable domestic and international journals
• Translation and transfer of health knowledge to support evidence-based decision making
• Encouraging, motivating, and engaging researchers, especially young investigators, in related research
• Developing and expanding new interdisciplinary and multi-center research in the field of heart and vascular health
• Collaborating with other research institutes, research centers, educational and healthcare groups within the country
• Collaborating with scientific centers in other countries and international organizations
• Training human resources to develop knowledge related to cardiovascular diseases
• Empowering researchers, students, and faculty members
• Organizing training workshops and national and international conferences
