Echocardiography Laboratory
Echocardiography lab of Shaheed Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center is a fully equipped non-invasive cardiac imaging department which is the first and largest fully echo lab in Iran and one of the largest in the Middle East. It has started to work in 2001 as a separate independent ward. The aim of echo department is to serve all patients in the best way and to reduce the burden of heart disease in the country. Advanced echocardiography modalities and procedures is performed by experienced faculty members’ expert in cardiac imaging and training echocardiography fellows. Trans thoracic echocardiography (TTE), Trans esophageal echocardiography (TEE), Stress echocardiography, 3D Echocardiography and tissue and strain imaging are the most popular studies in this ward. All exams have been supervised and reported by faculty members. Occasionally, coronary flow reverse and CRT optimization also have been performed on a case basis decision.
Moreover, portable and non-portable echo venders are seated in all medical, surgical and emergency wards that are used for TTE to provide good service for bedside, elective pre-procedural, post-procedural and emergent echocardiography.
Furthermore, intra operative TEE, sometimes epicardial echocardiography, and 2D-3D TTE and TEE in cathlab or EP lab during interventional procedures are also among the most advanced echocardiography exams. Echocardiography lab of SRCMRC is the largest training department for echocardiography fellows with a huge body of common, usual and rare cases with congenital, ischemic, valvular, pericardial, myocardial heart disease and etc.
In addition, echo lab has a dedicated research center with an enormous database with ongoing and published researches in national and international prestigious journals. The ward is in full relationship with operating rooms, cathlab, EP lab, CMR, CT angiography and other diagnostic and procedural departments.
