Heart failure and cardiac transplantation department
The mission of heart failure and cardiac transplant department of Shaheed Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center is to provide best in innovative, evidence-based care for various cardiomyopathies, heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension. The program encompasses a multidisciplinary approach to provide individualized and comprehensive care for heart failure and cardiomyopathy, including best science-based pharmacological treatment & electronic device implantation, patients and caregivers’ education, inpatient care of advanced heart failure, short-term and durable mechanical circulatory support device implantation, cardiac transplantation, and various innovative methods. The pulmonary hypertension program provides evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic approach to patients with all types of pulmonary hypertension including clinical and paraclinical assessments, diagnostic imaging such as echocardiography, nuclear imaging and multidetector CT scan, right heart catheterization, infusion unit and outpatient and inpatient service.
The team includes three heart failure specialists, cardiovascular surgeons, nurse practitioners and coordinators, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, psychologists and psychiatrists and are in a close collaboration with highly skilled medical experts in echocardiography, cardiac imaging, cardiac intervention and electrophysiology departments at Shaheed Rajaie Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center.
As the first heart failure and transplant fellowship program in Iran, we have inspired and trained fellows to become leaders in the rapidly evolving field of heart failure, cardiomyopathy and pulmonary hypertension. We intend to provide fellows with a broad experience and deep knowledge base and strongest foundation in clinical care, teaching, research, and leadership.
